Lupidae
An 18+ closed species created by hydrahots
The Basics
Lupidae are a closed species conceptualized and made by Hydrahots in 2022. They are a fairly new species and will have their lore fully fleshed out as I work on them. Thank you for your patience and understanding! They are available for purchase via my Deviant art, toyhouse or via twitter posts. They will all be cross posted and I will update on each platform on the status of the adopt.
The Lore
Lupidae are a humanoid being that shares both features of wolves and deer/goats. They tend to be rather reclusive, preferring to remain in their pacts hidden away in the depths of nature, though there have been a few that have strayed from their families and moved closer to civilization.Due to their deep connection with nature magic and the earth many of them find their homes in the most remote areas becoming renowned hunters, healers and oracles. You can find Lupidae all across the world from the coldest peaks of mountains to scorching desert plains. Though occasionally you will find them closer to civiliazation. While defensive to most strangers they have a love for other nature connected beings like fae, druids, sytar ect.Lupidae tend to follow a wolf like family structure with the stronger being the ones that lead the pack and hunt while the weaker stay and care for the homes. They dont care about gender in the way humans do, rather than having female = nurture and male = strong hunter they look at things more by the individual. If a male is more nurturing then he will be the one taking care of the pact at home and vice versa.Gender and sexuality are seen as a fluid and magical part of life, most being lgbt+ and all embracing trans and non-binary people. Lupidae can have any set or combination of genitals and sex is seen as a expression of love and joy between lovers or even just friends. Many Lupidae even take multiple lovers in polyamourus relationships.

Traits Explained
Horn jewelry is almost always seen being worn by Lupidae, wheater its beads, jewels, or braided moss. Its a cultural aspect of the species and seen as a bonding method to decorate each-others horns.Glowing eyes, Wolf Feet, visible fangs while not always a sign of an alpha lupidae are most commonly found in alpha lupidae. Though some might have these traits as defensive or due to their habitat.Hornless mutation is often found in small horned Lupidae but can be seen occasionally in long horned lupidae. This is basically under developed horns but many that have this trait will find they take a more nurturing role in the tribe. Of course that dosent mean all of them will as there have been some renowned fighters that were hornless lupidae.Pure gold/silver horns & gold and silver tipped horns are usually a sign of increased magica, though both pale in comparisson to glowing horns. But it can also be a sign of oracles or leader Lupidae as they will essentially 'plate' their horns in gold as a symbol of spirital connection or being a strong pack leaderIrish Elk traits & tasmanian tiger stripes are seldom seen in Lupidae due to the irl extention of both of these species. While Lupidae with these traits arent extinct themselves they are often the eldest Lupidae of the tribes, old souls who have seen decades. A few are even worshipped as gods by both lupidae and other nature speices.Glowing horns & fire tipped horns are a result of an overproduction of magica, this will come with a higher then normal control over all types of magic.Plants growing from horns is due to Lupidae being blessed by the earth godess, only a few are given this blessing at birth or through proving themselves to the godess. They will often be forest guardians.Unicorn horn mutation is simply due to genetics being wonky and combining a Lupidaes horn into one. But these Lupidae are often oracles as their horn can be used as a 'third eye' allowing them to communicate with the spiritual world easier.NOTE: just because a Lupidaes trait means their more likely to live a certian lifestyle dosent mean their restricted to this lifestyle.
__No goes__While Lupidae are a very diverse species there are some things that are not allowed to be an official Lupidae. Such as the following:Unnatural fur patterns (ex star, heart or other shapes not found on irl animals). Though Unnatural fur colours are fine (ie blues, pinks purples)Furless Lupidae. All Lupidae have a coat of fur of varying thickness, hairless lupidae simply wouldnt exist.Lupidae with human feet/declawed hands/human nose. While I understand not everyone can draw hoofs/paws it is part of the Lupidae species and shouldnt be removed, as are the clawed hands and anthro nose. It simply would be removing a large part of their design
Habitats & Diversity
Mountain Lupidae: Tend to share traits of mountian goats or white tailed deer, depending on how far up in a mountain they live. Generally they have thicker fur, larger horns, and a more wolf like attitude. They mainly consist of a carnivore diet, though the ones lower on the mountains will have more plants in their diet. Higher up in the mountians youll find Lupidae with longer claws, sharper teeth and horns that seemingly end in spikes.Desert Lupidae: Usually smaller and leaner with smaller horns. Tend to have less body fur and darker spots around their eyes and feet. Mainly herbivores and scavengers.Northern Lupidae: Similar to their mountain counterparts they have thick fur and are larger in stature. Generally sharing traits with arctic wolves and Reindeer or Elk. They tend to wear ribbon and bells around their horns.Marsh Lupidae: Short fur and broad horns are the main features of this species. They are sleek and very good swimmers, mainly living off a diet of fish. Their hair either short or tied up due to their habitat. They like wearing gator skin and teeth as decorations along with other leathersDeep Forest Lupidae: These are one of the most diverse type of Lupidae. Ranging from small and limber creatures to ones standing nearly 8ft tall, horns not included. They live in woodlands and usually stick to the deep parts where few dare travel. Many of them have moss or flowers decorating their hornsPlains Lupidae: While initially similar to the desert lupidae they tend to share more traits with antelopes. Long legs and fast runners while many of them are seen as weak they can host some of the best hunters of all lupidae.Meadow Lupidae: Some of the most friendly Lupidae they will be the ones most people see in their lifetime. They live alongside fae and are practically fond drinking nectar.
Q&A
Can I change aspects of the character/design?
Well yes, but actually no. Basically aspects like colour pallet, gender, genitals, hairstyle and clothing can all be changed to your desires but aspects tied to the closed species (horns, foot/tail type, traits ect) must remain the same to still be considered an official Lupidae. If you wish to change a trait please contact me, they can only be changed to a lower level (ie: changing a rare trait to an uncommon trait) This cannot be reversed once done so make sure it is what you want to do!-**Can I make my Lupidae a different species? **
Please dont! Even though their a new race Im putting a lot of love and care into making them and I would rather all Lupidae stay a Lupidae.-**What can I use them for? **
Anything! Rp, d&d, just as an oc. Pretty much anything is cool with me! As long as you arent making hateful works with them (homophobic/rascit/sexist remarks) or using them in things like underage ships. While they are your oc I dont want my designs or work tied to that type of thing, you can find another closed species if thats what you want to use it for.-**If I can use them for d&d do you have a d&d species sheet? **
Unfortunately I do not :-: But if youd like to make one I'd be very open to assisting you and making it available for anyone who'd want it!-**Do you make custom Lupidaes? **
Currently I only make customs for friends! I may occasionally open custom design commissions but at this time its not something Im interested in doing publicly, thank you for understanding!-
Can my custom Lupidae have a legendary trait?
No. As they are meant to be super ultra rare traits I have a specific order I will release legendary Lupidae in. The only way to receive a legendary Lupidae is to purchase one via bidding on adopts. I appreciate the interest but any begging/bargaining for a custom legendary Lupidae will not be tolerated and may result in being blacklisted.
-**Do I need to credit/link back to you or the Lupidae info page? **
Nope! Though it would be very appreciated. As long as you arent claiming you made the design/species. Crediting both myself and the base author clover_teapot is appreciated :]-If you have any other questions please feel free to dm me! Im most active on my twitter account so that would be the best way to find me
